About Me

... and My Personal Philosophy on Personal Care

I've been involved with the natural products community for well over 25 years. I believe strongly that the chemicals we put on our body and in our body are potentially harmful. Not only to ourselves, but to our children. And ultimately to our shared home: a.k.a. Earth.

I'm convinced you can care for your skin and look your best by using products with all-natural ingredients. And I'm committed to helping you find a natural solution for any skin care need you might have. (If you have a concern you can’t find the answer to, simply ask me via the Contact form. I’ll do my best to help.)

Before you consider what to put on your skin, be aware of what you put into your body. Health is indeed your most cherished asset and it must be nourished.

Yes, beauty really does begin within. Your skin is an outward reflection of your overall health. An optimum eating plan and a healthy lifestyle are the foundation of clear, radiant skin. I know from personal experience that care of the mind, body, and spirit is essential to both feeling good and looking good.

How Did I Arrive Here?

My initiation to a natural lifestyle began when I was pregnant with my first child. I made a commitment to nourish myself and my unborn child with wholesome, naturally fresh food and a healthy way of life. Although the ride has been bumpy at times, I have basically followed this path ever since (often to the dismay of my husband and kids --- "what, no Fruit Loops?").

My Credentials (or lack of)

I am neither in the medical field nor am I an esthetician. I am simply committed to natural skin care and a healthy lifestyle. So how can I assist you?

It may help to understand my basic nature. I am an avid researcher and compulsive label reader. In fact "research" is my middle name. I question everything. Yes, my family and friends occasionally (okay, often) find this personality trait of mine annoying! But I am dedicated to uncovering the truth. And I promise to share my discoveries with you.

Translation: I will seek and recommend only truly natural skin care products and methods. If anything falls short of this, but happens to be the best alternative, I’ll let you know. (An example is sunscreen. Although 100% natural is ideal, this is not always easy to find and may be economically out of reach for some).

My fascination with skin care products began when I was only 12 years old. Much to my mother’s dismay, I found a classified ad and sent for (via snail mail... no internet way back then) a "kit" of skin care products to sell. I can’t even remember the name of the line now. And I know they were anything but natural...

But I can clearly see and feel, with all my senses, the beautiful green gel in the clear glass bottle... its enticing fragrance and the promise of beautiful skin.

To this day, I am drawn to, and captivated by, intriguing lotions, potions, and irresistible scents. Yet my choices are no longer filled with synthetically colored, mysterious and unpronounceable ingredients. I much prefer the subtle fragrances and textures only nature can deliver. I delight in uncovering ancient and multi-cultural beauty secrets derived from nature’s bounty.

Natural Versus Conventional

I am certain that nature, not a mixture of laboratory chemicals, holds the secret to health and beauty. We are only beginning to discover, and in some cases re-discover, the abundant gifts nature contains. Precious gifts... both for our beauty and our health.

What about conventional products? I know they work... and admittately often do the job faster than their natural counterparts. But at what cost to us? We really don’t know.

The personal care industry has little to no regulation. That’s a fact I was troubled to learn. It's also true that thousands of the chemicals found in skin care products have never been studied for safety. Chemicals that the average person (including children) applies in numerous quantity every single day.

Okay, that’s me and that’s my philosophy. And I’m sticking to it. Despite overwhelming pressure to do otherwise.

Is every product I use 100% natural? No. But most are.

There is always a way to "go natural." Commercially prepared natural skin care products can be found in all price ranges. If funds are stretched, you can even create your own.

My Vision

This is a commercial website. But it is a labor of love for me. My ultimate hope is that you will learn something from the information here at Natural Skin Care Secrets. Something that will enhance your beauty and your health, if only a tiny bit.

I am optimistic that society is heading toward a more natural way of life. Fewer chemicals, less toxins. Whatever step you take in that direction, no matter how small, will benefit not only you and your children (if you have any), but all of us.

To your health and to your beauty!

All the best,
Jacqui Alarie
