Are you looking for soap ... herbal, natural soap? Soap that is nontoxic, effective, and pleasant to use?
There are numerous claims by companies that produce soap ... herbal, natural, organic. Sometimes their product is not all that natural.
Well, I've found a company that actually lives up to its claims ... and then some!
Natural Soap Rendezvous
Last year I found myself vacationing in the peaceful state of eclectic entrepreneurs ... AKA Vermont. I coerced my husband to take a (supposedly) one-hour jaunt to visit the Vermont Soapworks factory outlet.
After three long hours of winding, narrow roads, we arrived.
Vermont Soapworks is a small factory nestled in the mountains of a tiny New England village ... Middlebury, Vermont. A quaint, secluded college community that feels like a step back in time.
Love at first sight
From the first moment inside, I knew I had entered sacred soap space.
Everywhere, soap! Herbal, natural ...bins and bins. Wooden, whiskey barrels, filled with luscious, creamy bars. Delicate swirls of pastel hues. The fragrance ... intoxicating. Not heavy, just the natural aroma of pure essential oils.
Vermont Soap calls my name ...
I couldn't resist. The subtle earth tones, the heavenly scents, and the intriguing names ... I was hooked. I filled several bags, grabbing almost every variety of this special soap.
Herbal and natural, for sure, but would my skin respond as enthusiastically? Back at home ...
Soap review
Vermont soap makes my skin feel wonderful! I live in New England. Not as far north as Vermont, yet winter is brutal to skin. "Butter Bar" to the rescue! A real skin-saver during our harsh, winter weather.
Mainstream soap leaves my skin tight and dry. It aggravates my extremely dry skin. Shower gels are milder, but nothing works quite like Vermont Soap.
Shea butter is the powerful botanical secret of nature that gives "Butter Bar" its amazing moisturizing quality. My skin actually feels better after my shower than before.
Unique varieties of soap ... herbal and natural:
Oatmeal Lavender is my second favorite variety (after Butter Bar). I love its fresh scent. Even without shea butter, it is extremely kind to my dry skin.
Citrus Sunrise lifts my spirit when the weather turns warm and my skin has a bit more oil.
Peppermint Magic, best for oily skin ... awakens a drowsy mind.
Aloe Baby for the wee ones. I love the light lavender aroma and enjoy this gentle bar myself.
Unscented Oats and Aloe is ideal for the most sensitive, dry skin. One bar convinced my friend of its mildness. It is the best for her extremely sensitive skin.
Then there is "Lemongrass", "Honey", "Lavender Swirl" ... oh my. (I admit I'm not too fond of the scent of "Rose Geranium".)
All of the above are super mild ... gentle enough to clean my face. I have yet to test "Blue Bar" and "Tea Tree". These are stronger varieties, formulated for acne and athletes foot.
Warning!
Once you try Vermont Soap, there is no going back to mainstream cleansers. Heck, even my (formerly) "drugstore-soap committed" husband is now hooked on "Woodspice". This masculine scented, rustic-colored bar includes natural deodorant properties.
Vermont Soap is herbal and natural. Certified organic soap, to USDA food standards, it contains no Sodium Laureth Sulfate, no artificial coloring, and (except for the vanilla bar, which I have yet to find) no artificial fragrance.
Note: Because there is no SLS, the controversial foaming agent, this soap is not as "sudsy" as traditional bars. I use a bathing puff to compensate. This technique creates more than enough lather.
Vermont Soapworks utilizes a 200-year-old traditional soap making process. Organic coconut, olive, and palm oils form the foundation of the soap. Herbal, natural botanical extracts and blends of pure essential oil benefit various skin types.
The end product? Premium soap! An herbal, natural product that is mild enough to use on your face ... and baby.
Vermont Soap maintains peace of mind ... promotes soft, smooth skin ... and makes bathing a pure pleasure. Treasure in a Bar! (www.vermontsoap.com)
