For a quick and easy exfoliating sugar scrub recipe, try this home-made fragrant body scrub. It is a spa-like treatment that you can easily enjoy at home. I bet you’ll love how it makes your skin feel!
Brown Sugar Body Scrub
2/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup almond oil
5-10 drops essential oil
Combine almond oil and essential oil in a bowl. Add the sugar and mix thoroughly. Store in a clean, glass jar.
This potion will soften skin as it increases circulation. To use the exfoliating body scrub gently massage in circular motions over your entire body (excluding your face). Wash off in the shower or tub.
Voilá... ultra smooth, glowing skin!
Tips
Almond oil is a powerful skin softener. However, apricot or grapeseed oil are good substitutes.
Choose an essential oil to enhance the mood you'd like to create:
Orange, lemon, or rosemary for a stimulating energy boost.
Lavender for relaxation... especially effective at bedtime.
Lemongrass for a refreshing lift.
Use an exfoliating body scrub once a week on dry skin. Use two to three times per week on oily skin and problem areas, such as elbows and heels.
Don't use a body scrub on tender facial skin... and never use on irritated skin (sunburned, a rash, or open cuts).
Caution!
This will leave the tub very slippery. All that oil is great for your body but can wreak havoc during the next shower. I give the tub a quick wipe down with a cleanser afterwards... (I admit, this doesn’t feel so "spa" like!).
Note that citrus oils should NEVER be used on skin within 12 hours of sun exposure. This could result in burns or discolored sun spots.
